Nonlinear Analysis of Curved Thin Laminated Composite Beams Under Extreme Loading via an Enhanced Mixed Finite Element Formulation

Abstract

In this paper, curved thin laminated composite beams under extreme loading are analyzed. Thus, a novel functional is developed to analyze the geometrically nonlinear behavior of both straight and curved laminated composites. By using the functional together with the mixed finite element method, high precision structural results are obtained for geometrically nonlinear composite beam analysis. By writing the bilinear form, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for the functional structure to be in a potential form, the structure of the boundary condition terms, which produce a very significant efficiency for the functional, is revealed. The incremental formulation method is used as a solution tool in problem solution. Numerical analyzes showed that; The geometric nonlinear behavior of layered composite beams is analyzed with high accuracy thanks to the enhanced functional structure.
