A General Review on Aventurine Glazes

Abstract

Glaze
is a glassy layer covering ceramic substrates as a thin film (approx. 100 micro
meter). The most desired property seeked for in ceramic glazes is to form
physical and chemical bonds with substrates onto which they are applied under
normal conditions. Glazes can be classified according to common characteristics
(depending on composition: fritted and fritless; in terms of optical properties:
transparent, opaque, crystalline; with surface properties: glossy, crackle,
fluid, matte, crystalline, aventurine, reduction glazes etc.). In the present
paper it will be mentioned about aventurine glazes belonging to crystalline
glaze group and formed as a result of saturation of high alkali and quartz
based glazes with iron, copper or chromium oxides.

Aventurin Sırlarına Genel Bir Bakış

Abstract

Sır,
seramik bünyeyi ince bir tabaka halinde kaplayarak onun üzerinde ergiyen cam
veya camsı oluşumdur. Seramik sırlarında aranan en büyük özellik, üzerine
çekildikleri bünyeyle normal koşullarda fiziksel ve kimyasal bağlar
kurmalarıdır. Sırlar ortak karakteristiklerine göre değerlendirilerek çeşitli
sınıflandırmalara tabi tutulmuşlardır (bileşimlerine göre firitli ve firitsiz;
optik özelliklerine göre saydam (şeffaf), örtücü (opak), kristal; yüzey
özelliklerine göre; parlak, mat, krakle (çatlaklı), toplanmalı, akıcı,
kristalin, aventurin, redüksiyon sırları gibi). Bu makalede kristalin sır
grubuna ait, yüksek alkalili ve kuvarslı sırların demir, bakır ya da krom oksit
ile doyurulmaları sonucu elde edilen aventurin sırlardan bahsedilmektedir.
