Aim & Scope

Economic & Financial Analysis Letters (EFL) aims to publish short, focused, and high-impact original research in economics, finance, public finance, and related disciplines.

The journal encourages work that makes an analytical contribution rather than restating the existing literature. Editorial decisions give priority to the following principles:

  • Originality: the study fills a clearly identified gap in the literature
  • Methodological rigour: data and modelling techniques are used correctly and with justification
  • Analytical clarity: the link between the theoretical framework and the empirical findings can be followed
  • Reproducibility: the data, code, and method can be replicated by independent researchers
  • Policy relevance: the findings speak to current debates in economic and financial policy

Guided by these principles, the journal makes research that addresses current economic and financial questions through scientific method available to academics, researchers, and policymakers.

EFL publishes original research articles in the following fields:

  • Economic theory and applied economics
  • Financial economics and financial markets
  • Public finance and fiscal policy
  • International economics and global finance
  • Monetary policy and central banking
  • Macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis
  • Econometric methods and quantitative modelling
  • Energy economics, sustainability, and finance
  • Behavioural economics and finance
  • Islamic economics, Islamic banking, and finance

Interdisciplinary work that intersects with these fields is also considered.

Out of scope. The journal does not consider purely descriptive reports, literature reviews without an original contribution, texts in lecture-note or report format, and studies whose methodological basis is not stated.
