Identity Perception of Evliya

Abstract

Evliya Çelebi was an important entelectual of 17th century. Another feature of him was that he had travelled almost all of the Ottoman world. The social class which he had arised from, the education that he had gotten from Ottoman palace and the organic connection which he had founded with palace shaped his world view. His perspective towards the world is extremely important in order to understand his texts properly. Considering the above mentioned features of him, in this essay we will try to understand how Evliya Çelebi defined himself
