The efficacy of prophylaxis for anaphylaxis in cyst hydatid surgery

Abstract

Hydatic cyst is a disease of the larval stage of Echinococcusgranulosus. Incidence of the illness inTurkey is 2/100.000.  The most frequent localizations areliver (60 - 70%) and lung (20-25%) Hydaticcyst can cause anaphylaxis by surgery, traumatic intervention or spontaneous.In our case, although antihistamine and corticosteroidgiven for prophylactic, anaphylaxis developed. Some authors reports and in ourcase showed that for the hydatid cysts invasive procedures although prophylaxisfor the anaphylaxis has been given, anaphylaxis still occurred. But theprophylaxis may reduce the mortality and make the anaphylaxis milder.
