Researches Related to Outdoor Learning Environments in Turkey: Content Analysis Study

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the work done in the national field related to the extracurricular learning environments by means of content analysis between 2007-2016. A total of 133 studies have been reached in the study area. 14 of these studies, which are reached from the national-international field, are composed of the dissertation thesis, 43 of them are in the master thesis and 76 of them are published in the feminist journals. The themes and encodings of the studies investigated in the study are presented in graphical form using the resulting frequency values of the data. As a result of the research, it has been seen that studies on non-school learning environments have increased regularly in recent years. It has been determined that the work done is mostly in the form of articles published in the field of Science and scanned  in the national dimension. It has been found that during the study trip/nature activities and museum/science centers are mostly used, generally quantitative and descriptive/ scanning methods are used. Furthermore, it has been determined that the education and training problems that occur in the extracurricular learning environments, in which the studies are mostly carried out with middle school students and teachers, and the effects of these environments on the interest, attitude and learning products of the students. In the researches, interview forms, likert type scales and success tests were used as data gathering tools and descriptive and predictive data analyzes were generally applied as data analysis methods.
