Sürekli Dalga NIR-IR Dalgaboylarının Karaciğerde Oluşturduğu Isıl Etkilerin in vitro Ortamda Araştırılması / Investigation of Photothermal Effects of CW NIR-IR Lasers on Liver Tissue in vitro

Year 2012, Volume: 2 Issue: 4, 63 - 67, 23.10.2012

Abstract

Investigation of Photothermal Effects of CW NIR-IR Lasers on Liver Tissue in vitro

Year 2012, Volume: 2 Issue: 4, 63 - 67, 23.10.2012

Abstract

In this experimental study, three different laser sources in the NIR-IR region, 980 nm, 1070 nm, and 1940 nm were applied from 1 cm distance on liver tissue. Photothermal damage (coagulation, carbonization and ablation) was assessed as a function of exposure time, and damage dimensions (diameter and depth) were measured. Results were statistically (p<0.005) analyzed and histological evaluations were performed using H&E staining. Measurements and histology were compared and contrasted. Our observations showed that 1940 nm interacts with liver tissue quickest due to relatively higher absorption coefficient at this wavelength. Largest tissue damage occurred at 1940 nm. Damage volumes were highest at 980 nm than at 1070 nm.
