Ulusal Yenidoğan İşitme Tarama Programı’nın Aile ve Sağlık Çalışanları Görüşlerine Göre İncelenmesi: Durum Araştırması

Abstract

Durum çalışması olarak desenlenen bu araştırmanın amacı, bir ileri tanı merkezinde yenidoğan işitme taramasından eğitime yönlendirmeye kadar olan süreci incelemek ve bu sürece ilişkin sağlık çalışanları ile birlikte ailelerin deneyimlerini irdelemektir. Bu araştırmaya, ileri tanı merkezinden dört odyometrist, bir uzman odyolog, bir kulak burun boğaz hekimi ve çocuğu bu ileri tanı merkezinde tanılanan yedi aile katılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın verileri; aile ve sağlık çalışanları ile yapılan görüşmelerle, merkezde yapılan gözlemlerle, belgelerle, süreç ürünleriyle ve araştırmacı günlüğü yoluyla toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler, tümevarımsal olarak analiz edilmiştir. Analizden elde edilen, bulgular, dört tema çerçevesince raporlaştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, ileri tanı merkezlerinin ve işitme kayıplı çocuklar için eğitim veren devlet kurumlarının arttırılmasına ihtiyaç duyulduğu belirlenmiştir. Ailelerin ise süreçte psikolojik ve ekonomik olarak desteklenmeye ihtiyaç duyduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Sürecin daha etkin bir şekilde işlemesi için, sağlık çalışanlarına geri bildirim veren bir takip sistemine ve işitme kayıplı çocukların eğitimi alanında çalışanların sağlık çalışanları ile işbirliğinin arttırılmasına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.

Investigation of the National Newborn Hearing Screening Program Based on Family and Health Workers’ Opinions: A Case Study

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to investigate the process in the newborn hearing screening program of a referral hospital. The health workers and parents of children who were diagnosed with a hearing loss were interviewed to gather the data. The participants of the study were four audiometrist, an audiologist, an ear nose throat surgeon and seven families. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with participants, observations of reference hospital, documents, artifacts and the researcher’s journal. The data were analyzed and interpreted inductively. The results of the study indicated that the quantity of the reference and early intervention centers need to be increased by the state. The families were expressed their need for economic and psychological support. An efficient feedback system was suggested to decrease the loss to follow up by the health workers. The need for improved co-operation between the health workers and educators was also stressed.
