Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Anagyrus pseudococci Planococcus citri Planococcus ficus birlik içi avcılık
Prey preference of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) between unparasitised and parasitised Mealybugs Planococcus citri Risso (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) and Planococcus ficus Signoret (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) by Anagyrus pseudococci Girault (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) The aim of this study was to determine prey preference of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), which is one of the most important predators of mealybugs, between unparasitised and parasitised polyphagous pest Planococcus citri Risso (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) and Planococcus ficus Signoret (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) of different ages by Anagyrus pseudococci Girault (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae). Experiments and all insects rearing were carried out in controlled conditions (28±10C, 65±10% RH and a photoperiod of 16L:8D h.). For each mealybug species, unparasitised and parasitised mealybugs of different ages were released into same Petri dishes and preference of the predator within one day was also determined. It appears that female and fourth instar larvae (L4) of predator preferred two and four days-old parasitized P. citri and P. ficus as prey than the unparasitised ones
