EMERGING ISSUES IN LEADERSHIP

Abstract

Leadership studies have gained increased importance during the last couple of decades, as has become more and more evident that leadership plays a crucial role and goes beyond pure employee productivity and organizational performance. Leaders and leadership in contemporary business are an important link in gaining and maintaining the much needed competitive edge and competitive advantage. The main rationale behind the paper is not simply an analysis of the role and importance of leadership, but rather top focus on emerging issues in the field of leadership, such as followership, replacements for leadership, leaders as coaches, gender and leadership.
