Therapeutic Laser Treatment on Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumor in a Cat

Abstract

Three years old sterilizated female cat was referred to our clinic with the complaint of unhealing wound for two years on the neck in our case. Under clinical examination there was irregular wound with exudative character, 4.5x5 cm in size hairless skin area was available on the neck. Cutaneous mast cell tumour has been identified from the sample received by punch biopsy of the lesion's histopathological evaluation. Removal of the mast cell tumour with chronic wound image was considered for the surgical approach, because general condition of the patients was not suitable postoperatively. Therefore, therapeutic lazer application was decided. Consequently, it was observed that chronic wounds arising from cutaneous mast cell tumours might be cured with laser therapy application.

Bir Kedide Kutanöz Mast Hücresi Tümörünün Terapotik Lazer Kullanılarak Tedavisi*

Abstract

Olgumuzu, kliniğimize boyun bölgesinde iyileşmeyen yara şikâyetiyle getirilen, üç yaşında, melez, kısırlaştırılmış dişi bir kedi oluşturdu. Klinik muayenede, boyun bölgesinde, düzensiz, eksüdatif karakterli, 4.5x5 cm büyüklüğünde tüysüz bir deri bölgesi mevcuttu. Lezyonlu bölgeden alınan punch biyopsi örneğinin histopatolojik incelemesi sonucu kutanöz mast hücre tümörü tespit edildi. Kronik yara görüntüsündeki mast hücre tümörünün cerrahi yaklaşımla uzak-laştırılması düşünüldüyse de, hastanın mizacının postoperatif bakıma imkân vermeyeceği görüldüğünden, yara iyileş-mesini hızlandırdığı bilinen terapotik lazer uygulanması yapılmasına karar verildi. Sonuç olarak, kutanöz mast hücre tümörüne bağlı olarak oluşan kronik yaranın, lazer terapi uygulaması ile iyileşebildiği gözlemlendi.
