Bir Buzağıda Görülen Akut Kurşun Zehirlenmesi

Abstract

Yaklaşık 70 günlük Simental erkek bir buzağının anamnez bulgularından; kırık bir akünün hayvan tarafından yalanmasından bir gün sonra aniden iştahsızlık başladığı, hiçbir şey yemediği ve süt içmediği, sonraki gün boşa çiğne-me hareketlerinin geliştiği, başını duvara dayadığı, sallantılı yürüyüşün görüldüğü ve sürekli yattığı öğrenilmiştir. Yapı-lan klinik muayene bulguları ve kan analizlerinde serum kurşun düzeyinin toksikasyona neden olabilecek düzeyde (0.652 ppm) olması nedeni ile kurşun zehirlenmesi teşhisi konulmuştur. Sağaltım amacıyla Ca-EDTA, tiyamin ve sod-yum sülfat uygulanan hayvanın tüm klinik belirtilerinin kaybolduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, bu olgu ile hayvan sağlı-ğı yanında insan sağlığı içinde önemli olan akut kurşun zehirlenmesinin bildirilmesinin yetiştiriciler ve sahada çalışan veteriner hekimler için faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir.

Acute Lead Poisoning in a Calf

Abstract

From the anamnesis findings of a 70-days-old Simmental male calf; a sudden loss of appetite starting the day after it licked a broken battery. It was learned that the animal did not eat anything and did not drink any milk. The next day, chewing movements developed in vain, its head was leaning against the wall, shaky walk was observed, and it was constantly lying down. Lead poisoning was diagnosed based on clinical examination findings and determination of se-rum lead level (0.652 ppm) to cause toxicity. It was observed that all clinical symptoms of the animal treated with Ca-EDTA, thiamine and sodium sulphate disappeared. As a result, this observation is thought to be beneficial for breeders and clinician veterinarians to report acute lead poisoning, which is important for animal health as well as human health.
