Abstract
Water resources on the earth are decreasing gradually. There is no substitution of water which is a necessary good. Besides, to supply water demand in a correct way, it is important to know the water demand structure of the households. In this study, the factors affecting the water demand of households in Turkey are examined what direction these factors affect water demand. In the study, data set belonging to 8.336 households were used and the data were analyzed using the partial proportional odds model. As a result, it has been determined that the variables of income level, housing characteristics and use of white goods are among the important determinants of household water demand.
