Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

PUBLICATION POLICY


As the publication policy of the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Erciyes University, the journal aims to provide a scientific platform where scholars in the field of social sciences can share their knowledge, experience, evaluations, opinions, and suggestions; and to contribute to studies in the field of social sciences at both national and international levels.


In line with the decision of the Editorial Board dated 2025/1, and with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for authors as well as promoting geographical and institutional diversity in author distribution, the following decisions have been adopted:

1) In accordance with the Editorial Board Decision dated 2025/1, during their tenure at the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Erciyes University, members of the Editorial Board, the Editor, Associate Editor, and Field Editors may not publish articles as authors, nor may they act as reviewers for articles in the journal. However, their expert opinions may be sought regarding whether a manuscript should proceed to the peer-review stage, provided the topic is related to their area of expertise.


2) Any author, whether as a sole author or co-author, may have only one manuscript published within a calendar year. If a second manuscript involving the same author is accepted in the same year, its publication will be postponed to the following year.


ON THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE


If artificial intelligence tools are used at any stage (idea generation, design, data analysis and interpretation, language editing, etc.) of manuscripts submitted to our journal for publication, authors are required to take into account the Ethical Guidelines on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Activities published by the Council of Higher Education (2024) and to conduct the relevant processes in accordance with these guidelines.


ETHICAL PRINCIPLES


Erciyes University Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences attaches great importance to publication ethics, which form the basis for the impartial and reputable advancement of scientific knowledge. The journal is committed to applying publication ethics at the highest standards and to adhering to the principles outlined in its Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. This statement has been prepared on the basis of the recommendations and guidelines developed for journal editors by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The following ethical responsibilities are expected to be observed by all stakeholders in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, reviewers, and editors).

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDITOR
• To make decisions based on the quality and originality of the work, its relevance to the aims, scope, and objectives of the journal, and the peer-review reports, regardless of authors’ religion, language, race, ethnic origin, political views, or gender,
• To respond to the information requests of readers, authors, and reviewers regarding the publication and evaluation processes,
• To conduct editorial processes without compromising ethical standards and intellectual property rights,
• To support freedom of thought and protect human and animal rights,
• To ensure that the peer-review process is carried out in accordance with the principle of double-blind review,
• To bear full responsibility for rejecting, accepting, or requesting revisions to a manuscript, while ensuring that potential conflicts of interest among stakeholders do not influence these decisions.

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AUTHORS

• The submitted work must be original. Where other studies are utilized, proper and complete citations and/or quotations must be provided.
• The manuscript cannot be under review by another journal simultaneously.
• Individuals who did not contribute to the experimental design and implementation, or to the analysis and interpretation of the data, should not be listed as authors.
• If deemed necessary during the review process, the datasets used in the manuscript may be requested; in such cases, the required information and datasets must be submitted to the editorial board.
• If a significant error or inaccuracy is identified in the manuscript, the journal’s editorial office must be informed.
• For studies requiring ethics committee approval, authors must provide the relevant approval to the journal. If “Ethics Committee Approval” is required, information regarding the approval (name of the committee, approval number, and date) must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
• Once the review process has commenced, changes to authorship responsibilities (such as adding an author, altering the order of authors, or removing an author) cannot be proposed.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
• Reviewers should accept assignments only in areas where they have sufficient expertise.
• Reviewers should agree to evaluate manuscripts that can be assessed in a timely and impartial manner.
• Due to confidentiality principles, no information regarding the manuscript under evaluation should be shared during or after the evaluation process, other than the published content.
• Information obtained during the review process must not be used for personal or others’ gain.
• Suspected cases of plagiarism or other ethical violations must be reported to the journal’s editorial office.
• Reviews must be conducted objectively. Reviewers should decline to review if a conflict of interest exists.
• The tone used in the review should be courteous and constructive, avoiding personal remarks.
