Erciyes Art Academy Journal (ERSAD) is a scientific, academic, peer-reviewed journal published once a year, in December.
In accordance with the journal’s publication policy, all submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review by another journal. Each manuscript is subjected to a double-blind peer-review process conducted by one editor and at least two referees. Plagiarism, duplication, falsification/fabrication of research or data, honorary or ghost authorship, salami slicing, copyright infringement, and concealment of conflicts of interest are regarded as unethical practices.
Authors are deemed to have declared that the manuscript submitted has not been previously published nor simultaneously submitted elsewhere for publication, and that the text is free from plagiarism. They also guarantee that all visual-graphic or audio materials (photographs, drawings, images, documents, etc.) included in the manuscript do not involve any copyright issues. Papers presented orally at a conference may be accepted for publication, provided that the place and date of presentation are stated. In studies supported by a research institution or organization, the name of the institution/project, and if applicable, the date and project number must be indicated in a footnote.
Any manuscript not complying with accepted ethical standards will be withdrawn from publication. This also applies to papers later found to contain violations after publication.
The journal has no commercial purpose and no royalties or article processing fees are paid to authors.
ERSAD follows an Open Access Policy in line with the Budapest Open Access Initiative.
By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) accept that their work will be freely accessible and downloadable in PDF format through national and international indexing platforms, and they grant the journal the right to publish and disseminate the manuscript.
Authors must cite and/or reference accurately and completely all sources used in the manuscript (including authors, online sources, personal communications, etc.).
Scientific articles submitted to the journal must comply with the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) International Standards for Editors and Authors.
Individuals who do not contribute to the manuscript should not be listed as authors. After submission, requests for changes in the authorship order, addition or removal of authors are not acceptable.
Authors must document that they hold usage rights for the data employed in the research and that necessary permissions or participant consent have been obtained.
If authors detect an error in their manuscript at any stage (review, early view, or after online publication), they must immediately notify the editor to request correction or withdrawal.
For research requiring ethics approval (experiments, surveys, scales, interviews, observations, focus group studies, etc.), authors must obtain ethics committee approval and state the committee name, approval date, and number on the first/last page and in the methodology section of the manuscript. A copy of the ethics approval document must be uploaded with the submission. For case reports, authors must indicate that informed consent was obtained.
Authors must provide evidence that ethical principles were observed during the data collection process (e.g., permission to use others’ scales, questionnaires, photographs). Manuscripts must explicitly state compliance with research and publication ethics, as well as with copyright regulations pertaining to intellectual and artistic works.
Evaluation of Submitted Manuscripts
Manuscripts submitted for publication are first evaluated by the editorial board in terms of aim, scope, content, and adherence to submission guidelines. Those deemed suitable are sent to two referees recognized in the relevant field for scientific review. As part of the double-blind peer-review process, the identities of authors and referees are kept confidential.
If one referee report is positive and the other negative, a third referee may be appointed, or the editorial board may make a final decision based on existing reports. Referee reports are kept for two years. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in line with the comments and suggestions of the referees and editorial board. If authors disagree with certain comments, they may submit a detailed justification to the editorial board.
Manuscripts that complete the review process and are accepted for publication are placed in the publication queue and published in an appropriate issue determined by the editorial management.
The scientific, ethical, and legal responsibility for the content of the published articles belongs solely to the author(s).
Ethical Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board and Editors/Associate Editors are responsible for all submitted manuscripts and for all processes following publication.
The board is expected to voluntarily comply with international ethical standards (COPE Principles: https://publicationethics.org/).
The Editorial Board is responsible for protecting the ownership and copyright of every published article and keeping all records of published content.
The board promotes academic integrity and ensures the originality of submitted works by screening them through plagiarism detection software prior to publication.
The Editorial Board may not share submitted manuscripts with anyone other than the responsible author, referees, board members, and the publisher.
The board must be prepared to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary.
Responsibilities of Editors and Referees
Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on academic merit (importance, originality, validity, and clarity) and relevance to the journal’s scope, regardless of authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, nationality, religious belief, political philosophy, or institutional affiliation. The editor has full authority over editorial content and publication timing and must prevent potential conflicts of interest among authors, reviewers, and board members.
Referees must have no conflict of interest with the research, authors, or funding bodies. Evaluations must be objective and impartial. They must ensure that all information related to the manuscript remains confidential and report any plagiarism or copyright violation to the editor.
A referee who feels unqualified to evaluate the manuscript or unable to provide a timely review must notify the editor and decline the review.
Editors must remind reviewers that manuscripts are confidential and privileged material. Reviewers and editorial board members may not discuss manuscripts with others. Reviewer identities must remain confidential. In some cases, comments from different reviewers may be shared anonymously to help clarify the review process.
Any ethical complaint regarding a published article within 12 months will be reviewed by the editorial board. Supporting documents must be sent to the editorial office via e-mail.
