Author Guidelines

Erciyes Art Academy Journal is an international, peer-reviewed periodical published by the Faculty of Fine Arts at Erciyes University. The journal features articles in the fields of art and design and is issued once a year, in December. Submitted manuscripts must adhere to the criteria of scientific research, contribute original insights to the field, and must not have been published elsewhere. Papers presented at scientific meetings may be accepted provided that they have not been previously published.
Language of Publication
The publication languages of the Erciyes Art Academy Journal are Turkish (Turkey Turkish) and English.
Manuscript Preparation and Page Layout
For international compatibility in manuscript writing, the use of Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote is recommended.
The journal employs the APA 7th Edition writing style.
Please refer to the APA 7 guidelines (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/download/journal-file/31687).
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are checked for plagiarism using relevant screening software (currently iThenticate and Turnitin). Excluding bibliography and references, the similarity index of the main text must not exceed 20% without proper citation.
Manuscripts must be prepared using MS Word or compatible software. The font should be Times New Roman, 12-point size, with 1.5-line spacing. Pages must be numbered, and special fonts should not be used.
The author’s name and surname should be written in bold lettering beneath the article title. The author’s academic title, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, and ORCID number should be provided in a footnote in 10-point size.
The article title must be consistent with the content, written in bold, and should not exceed 10 words.
Each manuscript must include a Turkish abstract of 200–300 words, followed by an English abstract. Abstracts should be written in 10-point size. Below each abstract, five keywords arranged from general to specific should be provided.
Headings must be written in bold. In lengthy manuscripts, the use of subheadings is recommended for reader convenience. All main and subheadings (including sections such as References and Appendices) must appear in bold type.
Expressions that require emphasis within the main text should be placed in “quotation marks”; italics or bold should not be used. Double emphasis—such as using both quotation marks and italics or bold—is not permitted.
Direct quotations must be placed within “quotation marks.” Quotations exceeding 40 words should be formatted as block quotes. Paragraph indentations should be made using the tab command; block quotations should be indented from both sides by two tabs. The font size of block quotations remains unchanged (12-point) and must be single-spaced. Page numbers must be provided for both direct and indirect quotations.
Except for special cases, the Turkish Language Association Spelling Guide should be followed.
Photographs or other visual materials must be numbered separately and centered on the page. Captions should be written below the images in 10-point size. Visual materials not belonging to the author's own database must be properly cited.
Citation and Referencing
Footnotes and references must be internally consistent in terms of method and formatting.
In-text citations should follow the format: (Köprülü, 1932, p. 120). If the author’s name appears within the sentence, it need not be repeated in the parentheses: (1932, p. 120).
Works with multiple authors should appear in the text as follows: (Jameson et al., 1990, p. 5).
If a work has an editor, compiler, translator, or series editor, this must be indicated in the reference list.
For electronic sources, author, title, and publication date must be provided. Access dates must be included in parentheses in the reference list.
Secondary citations should be avoided when primary sources are accessible.
Works that are not cited in the main text must not appear in the reference list.
Acknowledgments may appear before the references.
References must be listed alphabetically by the authors’ surnames at the end of the manuscript. Publishers must be stated clearly, and page ranges must be provided for journal articles.
