Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Erciyes Journal of Sports Sciences adheres to the principles of impartiality, transparency, and ethical conduct in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge within the field of sports sciences. All parties involved in the publication process—including editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers—are obligated to act in accordance with these ethical standards.

Publication Ethics:
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Any detected data manipulation, falsification, or fabrication will be reported to the relevant institutions and the manuscript will be rejected. The journal reserves the right to request raw data for verification purposes.

Research Ethics:
Studies involving human or animal subjects must comply with national and international ethical guidelines. Manuscripts requiring ethical approval must include the corresponding approval documents upon submission.

Publisher Responsibilities:
The publisher commits to using its communication platform impartially, protecting copyright, and intervening in cases of ethical misconduct.

Editor Responsibilities:
Editors ensure the originality, quality, and relevance of manuscripts to the journal’s scope. A double-blind peer review process is implemented to guarantee unbiased and fair evaluations. Conflict of interest is managed carefully, and ethical violations are addressed through established procedures.

Reviewer Responsibilities:
Reviewers conduct objective, confidential, timely, and constructive evaluations within their areas of expertise. They must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline to review if such conflicts exist.

Author Responsibilities:
Authors must submit original research that adheres to ethical standards, provide accurate citations, disclose conflicts of interest, and submit ethical approval documentation when required. They are also obliged to supply requested data or information during the review process.

Vulnerable Groups:
Research involving vulnerable populations must comply with international ethical standards and include additional safeguards to protect participants.

Retraction Policy:
If ethical violations are identified post-publication, an investigation will be conducted. Verified violations will result in article retraction accompanied by a detailed notice.

Artificial Intelligence Policy:
Use of AI tools is permitted solely for language and writing enhancement under human supervision. Such use must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript. Authors bear responsibility for any errors or omissions resulting from AI assistance.

Plagiarism Policy:
Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 10% will be rejected.

Reporting Ethical Violations:
Ethical concerns related to editors, reviewers, or authors should be reported to the journal via email at mustafakayaerciyes@gmail.com.

Foundational Guidelines:
The journal adheres to international standards including the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, COPE, WMA Helsinki Declaration, ICMJE recommendations, Budapest Open Access Initiative, and APA guidelines.
