Abstract

Abstract

Location is a significant factor for to the success or failure of restaurant operations. Long terms strategic decisions taken have an effect upon company profit. There are many criteria influencing on location decision. These criteria differ from sector to sector. Decision makers consider all criteria while selecting optimal location and evaluate alternatives according to these criteria. Aim of this study is to determine the most significant group of criteria on location decisions for a fast food restaurant. In this context, six criteria are considered such as; general location, position of site, demographics, traffic information, competition, and cost consideration. These six criteria are then evaluated using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method which is one of the multi criteria decision making techniques. As a result, the most significant main criteria is demographics and most important sub criteria is income.
