Abstract
Urfa, Cumhuriyetin kuruluş dönemi öncesinde Halep gibi önemli bir ekonomi şehrinin hinterlandındadır. Bu konumundan dolayı Halep merkezli olarak sürdürülen Avrupa malları ticaretinde tali bir dağıtım üssü olmanın avantajlarından da yararlanılmıştır. Üretim ilişkisi bakımından sosyal yapının temel unsurlarından olan aşiretler, kasaplık hayvan üretimi ve bunun Arap coğrafyasına satışından da avantajlar sağlamaktadır. Şehirdeki üretim ilişkisi de bölgesel yeterlilik üzerinden şekillenmektedir. Ancak yaşanmış olan dünya savaşı şehrin demografik yapısında önemli değişime sebep olduğu gibi, üretim ilişkisi bakımından da artık yeni bir süreç başlamıştır. Urfa'nın bu geçiş sürecindeki durumunu belirlenmesi, gelecekte uygulamaya girecek olan politikaların ve sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesine katkıda bulunacaktır.

Abstract
Urfa is in the hinterland of an important city like Aleppo before the foundation term of the Republic. Because of this location, in the trade of European goods carried out as Aleppo centered, Urfa has taken advantage of being secondary distribution center.Tribes that are basic elements of social construction in respect of production relation, get advantage of butchery animal production and selling these in Arab geography. Production relations in the city is shaped by regional adequacy. However, World War II has caused important changes in city's demographic construction and a new period has started in terms of production relations. The determination of the position of Urfa in this transition period will contribue to the appreciation of politics and results, which will be carried out in the future.
