The purpose of this
research is to examine whether the learning environment created by multimedia
design has an influence on the fourth-grade students’ academic success,
motivation, and the retention of the learned information. In this study,
pre-test post-test experimental design with control group was used. The
research was conducted on a total of thirty-five students in the fourth grade
at a primary school in the central district of Bitlis. At the beginning of the
study, “Motivation Scale" developed by Balantekin and Oksal, and “Academic
Success Scale” developed by the researcher were applied to both groups (to the
experimental and control group) as pre-tests. The same scales were used as
post-tests in both groups at the end of the four-week experiment period. The
SPSS program was used to analyze the data. In the analysis of the sub-problems,
percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation were calculated,
and two-factor ANOVA (repeated measures) was used for repeated measures on a
single factor. The results of the study showed that the students’ academic
success, motivation and retention scores differed significantly in favor of the experimental group.
