Information and communication technologies have been
currently offering various opportunities for mathematics teaching with mobile
applications aiming to develop both teacher’s and students’ reasoning skills.
When, especially, the interest of 10-13-year-old children in the mobile games
is considered, it is inevitable to transform their interest into educational
activities that can be independently accessed with touching a single key. The
purpose of this research is to show the effect of the mobile game developed for
the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
with natural numbers on reasoning and mental computation. A person with a
higher level of reasoning skill is expected to decide on many things at the
same time without the need of paper and pencil and toobtain correct and desired
results. As a result of the research, the group’s pre-test and post-test scores
were found to have significant difference in favor of the post-test according
to the Wilcoxon signed rank test results. Besides, there was a significant
difference in favor of men according to the Mann-Whitney U test result.
