Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to determine the trends in the Social Studies theses written about citizenship education topics. The study was designed by adopting case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The data of the research were collected through document analysis method and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The theses that were obtained in line with the purpose of the study were examined according to the gender of the researcher, the date of publication, the relevant university, the level, the title of the advisor, the method, the study group, the data collection tools, the size of the study group, the keywords, the number of indexes, and the number of native and foreign bibliographies. In accordance with some results of the study, the number of male researchers who wrote their theses about citizenship education is higher. Theses were found to have been mostly supervised by the academicians who had the title of associate professorship. The highest number of theses written within the related subject was in 2019. Most of the theses were submitted by master’s degree students. The institution that published the biggest amount of theses about citizenship education is Marmara University.
