Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Open Access Policy

Frontiers in Health is a peer-reviewed, open access, online-only journal.
All content published in the journal is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) 4.0 International license, which allows non-commercial use, sharing, and adaptation of the content provided that proper credit is given to the original work. This license promotes the dissemination and use of the research published in the journal.
When using previously published content (figures, tables, etc.), authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder. Legal, financial, and criminal liabilities in this regard belong solely to the authors.

Copyright Policy

A Copyright Transfer and Acknowledgement of Authorship Form must be submitted with all manuscripts. By signing this form, authors agree that their work will be published under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Authors retain the copyright of their work while granting the journal the right to publish it.

Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit their published articles in institutional or personal repositories, provided that the original publication is properly cited, the DOI is included, and a link to the journal's website is provided.

Publication Fee Policy

Frontiers in Health is funded by Erzurum Technical University. No fees are charged to authors during the submission, evaluation, or publication processes.

Peer Review Process

All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer-review process. An initial technical check is conducted, and submissions that do not comply with the journal’s guidelines are returned to authors for correction. Suitable manuscripts are assigned to the Editor-in-Chief and reviewed by at least two independent experts. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, ensuring a transparent and unbiased evaluation process.

Publication Ethics

The journal adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and obtain ethics committee approval and informed consent. Animal studies must follow internationally accepted guidelines such as the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (8th edition).
Ethics committee approval details (name of committee, approval number, and date) must be stated in the Methods section. Parental/guardian consent is required for studies involving minors.

Similarity Rate Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Frontiers in Health are screened for similarity using the iThenticate software. Manuscripts with a total similarity rate exceeding 20% will not be considered for evaluation. The similarity rate from a single source should not exceed 5%. References, methodology sections, and standard definitions are excluded from the similarity calculation. Manuscripts exceeding the similarity limits will be returned to the author(s) and may be reconsidered after revision.

Plagiarism and Publication Misconduct

Ethical violations include plagiarism, self-plagiarism (text recycling), data fabrication or falsification, excessive or inappropriate citation, and “salami slicing.” In cases of suspected misconduct, the Frontiers in Health Editorial Board follows the relevant COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) flowcharts to ensure a fair and transparent process.

Authorship

The journal follows ICMJE authorship criteria. A statement of author contributions must be submitted with the manuscript and will be published with the article. Requests for changes in authorship require written consent from all authors.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest. Editors and reviewers are also required to declare any conflicts that could influence their judgment.

Data Sharing Policy

For clinical trials, the journal follows ICMJE’s data sharing policy. A data sharing statement must be included at the time of submission.

Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

Significant errors discovered after publication will be corrected via an official erratum. Articles found to involve ethical misconduct will be retracted, and this will be clearly indicated in the journal’s archive and relevant indexes.
