EVALUATION OF SUICIDE CASES RESULTING IN DEATH IN KAYSERI IN 2019

Abstract

Suicide is when a person intentionally wants to end his life. Although it is among the top ten causes of death in the world, it is an important public health problem. Suicide is one of the most important causes of death affected by psychological factors. Our study was designed as a retrospective descriptive study. A total of 61 people were reached by scanning the people who committed suicide in 2019 via the death notification system. Their demographic characteristics, when they committed suicide, suicide patterns registered in the system, diagnoses of psychiatric diseases, and the drugs they used were evaluated. SPSS 21.0 package program was used for statistical data analysis. In 2019, a total of 61 people committed suicide in our province. 75.4% was male, 24.6% was female. The median age was median (Q1-Q3) 31 (24.5-46). 62.3% committed suicide by hanging them selves, 16.4% with fire arms, and 20.3% byothermethods. While 19.7% had a psychiatricillness, 80.3% did not have any application to a mental health clinic. Whilegender and age were factors affecting violent suicide cases (p=0.010, p=0.046), it was determined that marital status and occupation did not affect violent suicide cases (p=0.054, p=0.761). It is one of the most common causes of death, is a social problem, and needs to be managed on a multi disciplinary or inter disciplinary basis. Wethink that people should be supported in terms of remedy-seeking behavior. In order to reducesuicide rate, it is necessary to provide individual treatment and therapy, as well as making social and legal changes.

2019 YILINDA KAYSERİ’DE GERÇEKLEŞEN ÖLÜM İLE SONUÇLANAN İNTİHAR VAKALARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

İntihar, kişinin hayatını bilerek sonlandırmak istemesidir. Dünyada ilk on ölüm nedeni arasında sayılmakla birlikte önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. İntihar psikolojik faktörlerden etkilenen en önemli ölüm nedenlerinden biridir. Çalışmamız retrospektif tanımlayıcı bir çalışma olarak tasarlanmıştır. Ölüm bildirim sistemi üzerinden 2019 yılında intihar eden kişiler taranarak toplam 61 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Demografik özellikleri ve intihar ettikleri tarih, sistemde kayıtlı intihar şekilleri, psikiyatrik hastalık tanıları, kullandıkları ilaçlar değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel veri analizlerinde SPSS 21.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır. 2019 yılında ilimizde toplam 61 kişi intihar etmiştir.%75.4’ü erkek, %24.6’sı kadındır. Yaş ortancası (Q1-Q3) 31 (24.5-46) idi.%62.3’ü kendini asarak, %16.4’ü ise ateşli silah, %21.3’ü diğer şekillerde intihar etmişti. %19.7’sinin psikiyatrik bir hastalığı varken %80.3’ünün ruh sağlığı kliniğine başvurusu bulunmamaktaydı. Erkek cinsiyet ve yaş şiddet içeren intihar vakalarını etkileyen faktör iken (p=0.010, p=0.046)medeni hal ve mesleğin şiddet içeren intihar vakalarını etkilemediği saptanmıştır (p=0.54, p=0.761). Ölüm nedenleri arasında üst sıralarda olan, toplumsal bir sorun olan ve multidisipliner ya da disiplinler arası yönetilmesi gereken bir durumdur. Kişileri, çare arama davranışı yönünden desteklemek gerektiğini düşünmekteyiz. İntiharın azalması için kişilerin bireysel tedavi ve terapisinin sağlanması yanında toplumsal ve yasal değişiklikler de yapmak gerekmektedir.
