Examining The Relationship Between SelfEfficacy Levels And Retinopathy Risk Factors in Individuals with Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract

This study aimed to examination of the relationship between self-efficacy levels and retinopathy risk factors in individuals with diabetic retinopathy. The research was executed in the form of a cross-sectional study. This study included 102 patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic retinopathy, who visited the ophthalmology outpatient clinic of a university hospital. The questionnaire data collection method was used in this study. The research data were collected using the ‘Personal Information Form’ and ‘Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale’. Descriptive statistics such as number, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used in the study. For data showing a normal distribution, independent samples Student t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis were performed. For data not showing a normal distribution, the Spearman correlation test was used.In the study, the mean score of the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale was found to be 63.82±15.62. There was a weak, positive, and significant relationship between urea and age, diabetes diagnosis duration, and retinopathy diagnosis duration (p<0.05). There was a negative and significant correlation between Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale total score averages and triglyceride systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure mean scores (p<0.05). In order to prevent the progression of diabetic retinopathy, self-efficacy should be improved and self-care practices should be supported in individuals with retinopathy.

Diyabetik Retinopatili Bireylerde Öz-Yeterlilik Düzeyleri ile Retinopati Risk Faktörleri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, diyabetik retinopatili bireylerde öz-yeterlilik düzeyleri ile retinopati risk faktörleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesini amaçlandı. Araştırma kesitsel çalışma olarak yürütüldü. Çalışmaya bir üniversite hastanesinin göz hastalıkları polikliniğine başvuran tip 2 diyabet ve diyabetik retinopatisi olan 102 hasta katıldı. Bu çalışmada anket veri toplama yöntemi kullanıldı. Araştırma verileri "Kişisel Bilgi Formu" ve "Diyabet Yönetimi Öz-Yeterlilik Ölçeği" kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmada sayı, yüzde, ortalama ve standart sapma gibi tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanıldı.Normallik testi sonucunda normal dağılım gösteren verilerde bağımsız örneklem Student t-testi, tek yönlü Varyans Analizi ve Pearson korelasyon analizi yapıldı. Normal dağılım göstermeyen veriler için Spearman Korelasyon testi kullanıldı. Çalışmada, Diyabet Yönetimi Öz-Yeterlilik Ölçeği puanının ortalaması 63.82 ± 15.62 olarak bulundu. Üre ile yaş, diyabet süresi ve retinopati tanısının süresi arasında zayıf, pozitif ve anlamlı bir ilişki bulundu (p<0.05). Diyabet Yönetimi Öz-Yeterlilik Ölçeği toplam puan ortalamaları ile trigliserid sistolik kan basıncı ve diyastolik kan basıncı ortalama puanları arasında negatif ve anlamlı bir korelasyon görüldü (p<0.05). Diyabetik retinopatinin ilerlemesini önlemek için retinopatili bireylerde öz-yeterlilik geliştirilmeli ve öz-bakım uygulamaları desteklenmelidir.
