BİR SPOR MERKEZİNE KAYITLI OLAN KADINLARIN SAĞLIK-HASTALIK KAVRAMLARI İLE İLGİLİ GÖRÜŞLERİ VE SAĞLIK ARAMA DAVRANIŞLARINI ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLER

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi’ne ait kadınlar için özel bir spor merkezine kayıtlı olan ve düzenli olarak spor yapan kadınların hastalık ve sağlık kavramları ile ilgili görüşleri ve sağlık arama davranışlarını etkileyen faktörlerin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma sırasında spor merkezine kayıtlı 300 kadından 260’ına ulaşılmıştır. Kadınların yaş ortalaması 38.1±9.9 dir. Sağlık kavramını kadınların %25.1’i ‘bedenen ve ruhen iyilik hali’ olarak tanımlamışlardır. Kadınların %27.9’u hastalık kavramını “kendini kötü hissetmek, mutsuzluk, huzursuzluk” olarak; %19.1’i ise “kişilerin fiziken ve ruhen herhangi bir hastalığı olmaması” şeklinde ifade etmişlerdir. Kadınların %97.1’i hastalık halinde bir sağlık kurumuna başvurmak gerektiği görüşünün uygun olduğunu bildirmelerine rağmen % 77.8’i en son hastalandığında bir sağlık kurumuna başvurduklarını belirtmiştir. Sağlık personeli dışındaki kişilere başvuran kadınların yüzdesi 6.9’dur. Elde edilen veriler değerlendirildiğinde lise ve altı düzeyde öğrenim gören kadınların %43.3’ünün; fakülte veya yüksekokul mezunu kadınların %57.7’sinin sağlık kavramı tanımlarının Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) tanımına uygun olduğu belirlenmiş olup aradaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlıdır (p<0.05). Fakülte veya yüksekokul mezunu olan kadınların %33.3’ü; daha alt düzeyde bir okuldan mezun olanların ise %10.9’u hastalığı DSÖ tanımı ile uyumlu olarak ifade etmişlerdir. Bu fark istatistiksel olarak önem taşımaktadır (p<0.01)

Thoughts of Women Who are Registered in a Sports Center About “Health/Illness” Concept and Factors Which Influence Their Health Seeking Behavior

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to determine thoughts about “health/illness” concept and influencing factors of their health seeking behavior of women registered in a sports center of Ankara Municipality. Two hundred and sixty out of 300 registered women in the sports center participated in this study. Mean age of women was 38.1±9.9. Twenty five percent of women stated health as “physical and mental well-being”. Twenty seven point nine percent of women stated illness as “feeling unwell, unhappiness, and discomfort” and 19.1% of them stated as “physical and mental not well being”. Although 97.1% of the participants agreed with the statement of attending to a health care unit in case of being ill; 77.8%of them attended to the health care center for the last time they were ill. The percent of women who attended to non-health personnel was 6.9%. Forty three point three percent of women who were high school and lower graduates described “health” in accordance with the official description of World Health Organization (WHO), whereas 57.7% of the university graduates made the same description. This difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Thirty three point three percent of the university graduates women and 10.9% of high school and lower graduates women made the description of “illness” in accordance with the description of WHO. This difference was statistically significant (p<0.01)
