The Structural Changes in the Rat Uteri During the Postpartum Period

Abstract

This study was performed to determine quantitatively the structural changes occuring in the involution period in rat uterus. Uterus samples taken from 25 female rats in the 1th, 3th, 5th 10th and 15th days postpartum were examined by using routine histological methods. In the first postpartum day, it was observed that wide lumen of uterus was to be surrendered with mucosal folds, whereas the cyrpts were deep and irregular. Additionally, it was determined that the epithelium including different cell types together with intraepithelial capillary vessels had properties of pseudostrafied columnar epithelium, and the edema was presence in the lamina propria. In the 3th day postpartum, it was observed that the intraepithelial vessels disappeared, the depth cyrpt decreased, and the cell density of lamina propria containing a few siderophage increased. In the 5th day postpartum, it was observed that the narrowing lumen of the uterus had a T shape, the epithelium was comprised of columnar cells of the same type, and a few crypt existed. In the 10th and 15th days postpartum, it was seen that the crypts diappeared completely, the surface epithelium had the features of high columnar epithelium and the number of siderophages increased. While the height of epithelium in the 1st, 3th and 5th days postpartum was different from that in the 10th and 15th days postpartum (p<0.01), it was determined that the measurable height of crypts in the 1st, 3th and 5th days postpartum exhibited differences as well (p<0.01). When thicknesses of the stroma were compared, the quantifications in the 3th and 5th days postpartum were different from those in the 10th and 15th days postpartum (p<0.01). Myometrium thickness in the 1st and 3th days postpartum was different from that in the 5th, 10th and 15th days postpartum (p<0.01). In the light of these findings, we concluded that uterinal involution in rats was completed on the 10th day postpartum

POSTPARTUM DÖNEMDE SIÇAN UTERUSUNDAKİ YAPISAL DEĞİŞİKLİKLER

Abstract

Bu araştırma, sıçan uterusunda involüsyon sürecinde oluşan yapısal değişimleri kantitatif olarak belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Postpartum 1., 3., 5., 10. ve 15. günlerdeki 25 dişi sıçandan alınan uterus örnekleri rutin histolojik yöntemlerle incelendi. Postpartum 1. günde geniş olan uterusun lumeninin mukozal dürümlerle kuşatıldığı, kriptlerin ise derin ve düzensiz olduğu gözlendi. Ayrıca intraepiteliyal kapilar damarlarla birlikte farklı hücre tipleri içeren epitelin yalancı çok katlı prizmatik özellik gösterdiği ve lamina propriyanın da ödemli olduğu tespit edildi. Postpartum 3. günde intraepiteliyal derinliklerinin azaldığı, lamina propriyanın hücre yoğunluğunun arttığı ve az miktarda siderofaj da içerdiği belirlendi. Postpartum 5. günde ise uterus lumeninin daralarak T şeklini aldığı, epitelin aynı tipteki prizmatik hücrelerden oluştuğu, çok az kript bulunduğu gözlendi. Postpartum 10. ve 15. günde kriptlerin tamamen kaybolduğu, yüzey epitelinin ise yüksek prizmatik özellik kazandığı ve siderofajların sayıca arttığı görüldü. Postpartum 1., 3. ve 5. günlerdeki yüzey epitel yüksekliklerinin postpartum 10. ve 15. günlerdekinden farklı olduğu (p<0.01) belirlenirken, postpartum 1., 3., ve 5. günlerde ölçülebilen kript yüksekliklerinin de farklılık gösterdiği (p<0.01) tespit edildi. Stroma kalınlıkları karşılaştırıldığında postpartum 3. ve 5. gün ile postpartum 10. ve 15. gün arasındaki farklılığın önemli olduğu (p<0.01), miyometriyum kalınlıkları karşılaştırıldığında ise postpartum 1. ve 3. gün ile postpartum 5., 10. ve 15. gün arasındaki farklılıkların anlamlı olduğu (p<0.01) saptandı. Bu bulgular ışığında sıçanlarda uterus involüsyonunun postpartum 10. günde tamamlandığı sonucuna varıldı
