Temperature Rise in the Pulpal Chamber During the Fabrication of Provisional Crowns with two Different Direct Techniques
Abstract
The temperature rise of autopolymerization or photpolymerization reaction by direct fabrication of provisional crown material (PCM) can injure dental pulp. The purpose of this in vitro study is to compare the temperature rise in the pulp chamber during the fabrication of provisional crowns with different direct fabrication techniques. Three otopolimerizan (polimetilmetacrylat, bis acrylic composite, multifunctional metacrilat) and one photopolimerizan (ürethan-dimetil-metacrylat) were compared with respect to their exothermic reaction during polymerization with one and two step direct fabrication methods. The temperature rise in the pulp chamber of a prepared mandible third molar was recorded using a J-type thermocouple. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Tukey’s test and Paired t test (α=0.05). One-way ANOVA indicated a statistically significant difference for all four PCMs by one step fabrication (P<0.001).
