THE RELATIONSHIP OF FEAR OF HAPPINESS WITH PRENATAL ATTACHMENT AND SOME SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS IN PREGNANCY

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between prenatal attachment, some socio-demographic factors and fear of happiness experienced by pregnant women. The descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 385 pregnant women admitted to a hospital in Turkey. Individual Information Form, Fear of Happiness Scale and Prenatal Attachment Inventory were used as data collection tools.In the study, it was determined that the total Fear of Happiness Scale score of the pregnant women was 12.00 (5-30) and the total Prenatal Attachment Inventory score was 64.00 (28-81), and there was a weak insignificant negative correlation between the total scores of the scales (r =-0.087, p = 0.089). In addition, a statistically significant relationship was found between the education period, family type, number of living children and the total score of the Fear of Happiness Scale (p<0.05).It was determined that pregnant women participating in the study experienced low levels of fear of happiness and this fear did not significantly affect their attachment processes to their babies. However, it is observed that women with high levels of happiness and fear are more attached to their babies.

GEBELERDE MUTLULUK KORKUSUNUN PRENATAL BAĞLANMA VE BAZI SOSYO-DEMOGRAFİK FAKTÖRLER İLE İLİŞKİSİ

Abstract

Bu araştırma gebelerin yaşadıkları mutluluk korkusu ile prenatal bağlanma ve bazı sosyo-demografik faktörler arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel olan araştırma, Türkiye’ de bulunan bir hastaneye başvuran 385 gebe ile yürütülmüştür. Veri toplama aracı olarak Birey Tanıtım Formu, Mutluluk Korkusu Ölçeği ve Prenatal Bağlanma Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada gebelerin Mutluluk Korkusu Ölçeği toplam puanının 12.00 (5-30), Prenatal Bağlanma Envanteri toplam puanının ise 64.00 (28-81) olduğu ve ölçeklerin toplam puanları arasında negatif yönde zayıf derecede anlamlı olmayan bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır (r=-0.087, p=0.089). Ek olarak, gebelerin eğitim süresi, aile tipi ve yaşayan çocuk sayısı ile Mutluluk Korkusu Ölçeği toplam puanı arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Araştırmaya katılan gebelerin mutluluk korkusunu düşük seviyelerde yaşadıkları ve bu korkunun onların bebeklerine olan bağlanma süreçlerini anlamlı bir şekilde etkilemediği saptanmıştır. Ancak mutluluk ve korku düzeyi yüksek olan kadınların bebeklerine daha çok bağlandıkları görülmektedir.
