PORPHYROMONAS GİNGİVALİS’İN DENTAL İMPLANT ÜZERİNE YAPIŞMASININ SCANNİNG ELEKTRON MİKROSKOP’TA İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Dental implantlar eksik dişlerin yerine kullanılabilen ve geleneksel protezler için alternatif oluşturan önemli bir tedavi seçeneğidir. Dental implantlarda önemli başarısızlık nedenlerinden biri periimplantitis mukozitistir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, scanning elektron mikroskop (SEM) ile periimplantitis mukozitis etkeni olan Porphyromonas gingivalis’in titanyum dental implant üzerine yapışmasını değerlendirmektir. kullanılmak üzere 6 adet dental implant (ITI, Strouman, 4.25mm x 10mm) steril durumda temin edilmiş ve bu implantların yüzeyine Porphyromonas gingivalis’in in vitro yapışması değerlendirilmiştir. Dental implantlardan alınan scanning elektron mikroskop görüntülerinde, yüzeyde yoğun Porphyromonas gingivalis bakterileri görülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda Porphyromonas gingivalis’in titanyum implant üzerine yapışma özelliğinin olmasının ve periimplantitis mukozitisin etyolojisinde mikrobiyal virulans faktör olarak rol oynayabileceğinin göz önünde bulundurulması gerektiği kanısına varılmıştır

The Investigation of Adhesion of Porphyromonas Gingivalis on Dental Implants Using Scanning Electron Microscope

Abstract

Titanium dental implants are an important treatment option in the replacement of missing teeth. Implant failures can, however, occur and may be promoted the loss of tissue as a result of local bacterial infection (peri-implantitis). Consequently, the aim of this study is to identify the effects of the bacterial adherence on titanium dental implants using scanning electron microscope (SEM). In this study, sterile 6 titanium implants (ITI, Strouman, 4.25mm x 10mm) were prepared for bacterial adherence. An in vitro adhesion assay using Porphyromonas gingivalis was used to assess the adherence on the dental implants. Considerations of SEM images, a great deal P.gingivalis were found on the dental implants. This study revealed that P.gingivalis has the property to adhere to titanium implant, and therefore it should be considered in the etiology of periimplantitis mucositis as a microbial virulance factor
