Effect of Dietary Addition of Propolis and Caffeic Acid on the Growth Performance, Production and Hatching Performance, Egg Quality and Some Biochemical Parameters of Quail (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica)

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the effects supplementation on egg production, feed intake, feed efficiency, egg quality, some biochemical parameters and hatching performance of quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). A total of 144 Japanese quails aged 24 weeks, assigned to 4 groups with 3 replicates. Quails were fed supplemented diet with 0, 1 and 4 g/kg propolis, 0.5 mg/kg caffeic acid for 12 weeks. The addition of propolis and CA did not significantly affect body weight, feed intake, feed efficiency, egg production and Haugh unit. Egg weight increased with 1 and 4 g/kg propolis and 0.5 mg/kg caffeic acid supplementation in the study. Specific gravity and shell supplemented propolis. Specific gravity was also significantly increased in CA groups. Propolis and CA addition increased fertility egg rate and hatching performance. While 4 g/kg propolis supplementation increased the uric acid level, decreased total cholesterol Furthermore, total protein, uric acid levels and ALT activity were significantly increased in female laying quails supplemented with CA. In addition, glucose level, ALP and ALT activities were increased in male birds supplemented with 4 g/kg propolis. The results of this study demonstrate that propolis addition positive effected egg weight, egg shell quality, fertility egg rate; on the other hand caffeic acid also positive effected this parameters

YUMURTACI DAMIZLIK JAPON BILDIRCIN (COTURNIX COTURNIX JAPONICA) RASYONLARINA PROPOLİS VE KAFEİK ASİT KATILMASININ VERİM VE KULUÇKA PERFORMANSI İLE YUMURTA KALİTESİ VE BAZI SERUM PARAMETRELERİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

Bu çalışma, bıldırcın (Coturnix coturnix japonica) rasyonlarına katılan propolis ve kafeik asidin (KA) yararlanma, yumurta kalitesi, bazı serum parametreleri ve kuluçka performansına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Toplam 144 adet, 24 haftalık Japon bıldırcını 3 tekrarlı 4 gruba ayrıldı. Bıldırcınlar 12 hafta boyunca 0, 1 ve 4 g/kg oranında propolis ve 0,5 mg/kg kafeik asit katılan rasyonlarla beslendi. Propolis ve KA ilavesi canlı ağırlık, yem tüketimi, yemden yararlanma, yumurta verimi ve yumurta Haugh birimini önemli oranda etkilemedi. Çalışmada 1 ve 4 g/kg propolis ve 0,5 mg/kg kafeik asit katılan gruplarda yumurta ağırlığı önemli oranda arttı. Yumurta özgül ağırlığı ve kabuk kalınlığı propolis ilavesiyle önemli oranda arttı. Kafeik asit grubunda da yumurta özgül ağırlığı önemli oranda arttı. Propolis ve kafeik asit ilavesi döllü yumurta oranı ve kuluçka performansını arttırdı. Dişi bıldırcınlarda rasyona 4 g/kg propolis ilavesi ürik asit düzeyini artırırken, total kolesterol düzeyini azalttı. Kafeik asit ile beslenen dişi bıldırcınlarda total protein, ürik asit seviyesi ve ALT aktivitesi önemli oranda arttı. Ayrıca, 4 g/kg propolis ile beslenen erkek bıldırcınlarda glikoz düzeyi, ALP ve ALT aktiviteleri arttı. Sonuç olarak, propolisin yumurta ağırlığı, kabuk kalitesi, döllü yumurta oranı gibi bazı parametreleri olumlu etkilediği öte yandan kafeik asitin de bu parametreler belirlenmiştir
