Abstract
Clival canal is located on pars basilaris of the occipital bone. Presence of clival canal were investigated on Erciyes University Medical Faculty, Department of Anatomy at the 62 piece skull and Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine in the department of anatomy at the 25 pieces of skull (total 87). Presence of clival canal detected on 6 of 87 skull (%7). The mean length of this canal was 0.98 cm and mean distance between foramen magnum and clival canal was 0.63 cm. Although all canals are single entry, output of this canal showed variations. There were many anastomoses among the vein of the cavernos sinus, inferior petrosal sinus and basilar plexus. The morphology of this canal can be important because of base of skull and brain stem surgery

Abstract
Klival kanal kafatasında, oksipital kemiğin basilar parçasında yer alır. Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi anabilim dalında bulunan 62 adet ve Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi anabilim dalında bulunan 25 adet (Toplam 87) kafatasında klival kanalın varlığı araştırıldı. 87 kafatasının 6’sında (% 7) kliv195l kanalın varlığı tespit edildi. Kanalların başlangıcı ile foramen magnum arasındaki mesafe ortalama olarak 0.63 cm, kanalların boyu ortalama 0.98 cm olarak tespit edildi. Kanalların tamamı tek girişli olduğu halde çıkışları varyasyon göstermekteydi. Clivus’un çevresinde sinus cavernosus, sinus petrosus inferior ve plexus basilaris’e ait çok sayıda venöz anastomozlar bulunmaktadır. Bu yüzden kafatası tabanı veya beyin sapına yapılacak cerrahi girişimlerde bu kanallarda seyreden venlerin bağlantıları önemli olabilir
