Abstract

Abstract

This study is conducted to determine the relationship between the perceived stress level and the spousal support on of the women who have miscarriages. The sample of this descriptive, cross-sectional and relationship-seeking study was 182 women who applied to a Maternity and Pediatric Hospital Anatolian side of Istanbul, between 1 February and 1 May 2019. The research data were obtained by using descriptive data collection form, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Spousal Support Scale (SSS). Average PSS and SSS points of women were found as 26.25 ± 6.92 and 70.76 ± 11.44 respectively. There was a negatively weak correlation between the mean scores of PSS and SSS (p<0.01). As the level of spousal support decreases, the perceived stress level of women increases. As a result of this study, it’s suggested that nurses and obstetricians prepare support programmes about lowering and handling with stress for woman who had miscarriage and also inform and help spouses about how to comfort and give support to their wives after having a miscarriage.
