Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı öğrenci-sporcuların çift kariyer yetkinliğine sahip olma, önem ve ihtiyaç algılarını akademik ve sportif değişkenler çerçevesinde incelemektir. Araştırmaya, 300 kadın (X ̅yaş =19.83±1.43), 309 erkek (X ̅yaş =20.01±1.41) toplam 609 (X ̅yaş =19.92±1.42) öğrenci-sporcu katılmıştır. Katılımcılara “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ile “Sporcular için Çift Kariyer Yetkinliği Ölçeği” uygulanmıştır. Çift kariyer yetkinliklerinin üniversite türüne göre karşılaştırılmasından elde edilen bağımsız örneklemlerde t-test analizi sonuçlarına göre öğrenci-sporcuların çift kariyer yetkinliklerini önemli bulma algılarında çift kariyer yönetimi ile sosyal zeka ve uyum alt boyutlarında, çift kariyer yetkinliklerini geliştirme ihtiyaçlarına dair algılarında ise çift kariyer yönetimi, duygusal farkındalık ile sosyal zeka ve uyum alt boyutlarında anlamlı farklılık vardır. Çift kariyer yetkinliklerinin burs durumu değişkenine göre karşılaştırılmasından elde edilen analiz sonuçlarına göre öğrenci-sporcuların çift kariyer yetkinliklerine sahip olma algılarının tamamında, çift kariyer yetkinliklerini geliştirme ihtiyaçlarına dair algılarında ise çift kariyer yönetimi, kariyer planlama ile sosyal zeka ve uyum alt boyutlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık vardır. Çift kariyer yetkinliklerinin millilik durumu değişkenine göre karşılaştırılmasından elde edilen analiz sonuçlarına göre ise öğrenci-sporcuların çift kariyer yetkinliklerini önemli bulma algılarında çift kariyer yönetimi, kariyer planlama ile sosyal zeka ve uyum alt boyutlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark olduğu ortaya konmuştur. Sonuç olarak, öğrenci-sporcuların çift kariyer yetkinliklerinin akademik ve sportif değişkenler açısından farklılık gösterdiği ortaya konmuştur

EXAMINATION OF DUAL CAREER COMPETENCE PERCEPTIONS OF STUDENT-ATHLETES’ IN ACADEMIC AND SPORTIVE VARIABLES

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate student-athletes' perceptions of having, importance and need for dual career competence within the framework of academic and sportive variables. A total of 609 (Mage=19.92±1.42) student-athletes including 300 women (Mage=19.83±1.43), 309 men (Mage=20.01±1.41) voluntarily participated in the study. “Personal Information Form”, “Dual Career Competency Questionnaire for Athletes” were administered to participants. According to the results of the independent samples t-test analysis obtained from the comparison of dual career competencies according to university type, there is significant difference in the perceptions of student-athletes about finding dual career competencies important in dual career management and social intelligence and adaptation subscales, and in their perceptions about the need to develop dual career competencies in dual career management, emotional awareness and social intelligence and adaptation subscales. According to the results of the analyses obtained from the comparison of dual career competencies according to the scholarship status variable, there was statistically significant difference in all of the student-athletes' perceptions of having dual career competencies and in the subscales of dual career management, career planning, social intelligence and adaptation in their perceptions of the need to develop dual career competencies. According to the results of the analyses obtained from the comparison of dual career competencies according to the nationality status variable, it was revealed that there was statistically significant difference in the dual career management, career planning, social intelligence and adaptation subscales of student-athletes' perceptions of finding dual career competencies important. As a result, it was revealed that dual career competences of student-athletes differed in terms of academic and sportive variables.
