Abdulkuddüs BİNGOL, OSMANLI'DA MANTIKİ DÜŞÜNCE (veya OSMANLI'DA MANTIK BİLİMİNE BAKIŞ)
In the ninth century logic, with al! the developments it experienced from its founding by Aristotle until then, was adopted by the Islamic cultural world and in
harmony with this world it continued its development parallel to the scientific activities which resulted in the emergence of an Islaınlc Logic with its own terms and rules. The two Turkish philosophers Ton Sina and Farabi played an important role in this formation. After the end of the eighteenth century all the scientifıc accumulation of this
branch was transferred to the Ottoman-Turkish world in which it became an important research and education subject until the end of the nineteenth century. This essay aims at drawing an outline of the philosophy of logic in the Ottoman period by taking into consideration all the developments in the field and by giving examples from works which were the results of the research and education activities undertaken in this period. Moreover this essay offers a comparison of the field after the Western
developments in the sixteenth century and also considers the condition of logic during westernization at length.
