Dewey’s Pragmatism: In A Role Share With The Hegelian And Marxist Metaphysics

Abstract

Pragmatizm is generally known as puting itself in a totallly different position than the traditions of history of philosophy, and being the thinking tradition of the new American nation, as getting rid of historical, theoretical barriers on front of sciences, being democtaric and libertarian, and also known as being an anti-Marxist ideology and being against historicist metaphysics. This article signs out just the opposit positions of all these common opinions by taking into consideration some basic thoughts of John Dewey’s philosophical texts: Is Pragmatism a strict succesor of Hegelian tradition, a new-Hegelian and even a historicist metaphysic that emulates Marxism, and just because of this reason, can it embody rather a possibility of totalitarianism than being libertarian and democratic, does it replace science with technology in favour of market?

Öz

Pragmatizm kendini tarihten gelen felsefe geleneklerinden apayrı bir yere koymak ve yeni Amerikan ulusunun yeni düşünme geleneğini oluşturmakla, bilimin önündeki tarihsel, teorik engelleri kaldırmakla, demokratik ve özgürlükçü olmakla, Marxizme karşı bir ideoloji oluşturmakla ve tarihselci metafiziklere karşı olmakla tanınır. Bu makale Dewey’nin felsefi metinlerindeki temel görüşlerini örnek alarak Pragmatizm üzerine yaygınlaşmış bu genel kanıların tam aksini desteklemektedir: Burada, Pragmatizmin sıkı bir Hegelci geleneğin devamı, Marxizme öykünen yeniHegelci, hatta tarihselci bir metafizik olmasının ve bu nedenle de özgürlükçü ve demokratik olmaktan çok totaliteryanizme açılan bir olanağı bünyesinde barındırmasının ve bilimin yerine pazara dönük teknolojiyi koymasının olanağına kısaca işaret edilmektedir
