REVISITING OF PERFORMATIVITY: DESTRUCTIVE PLASTICITY

Abstract

This study focuses on the Catherine Malabou’s concept of plasticity, who determined the criticisms of the Metaphysics of presence -Martin Heidegger and Jacques Derrida- as the starting point for her thought. According to Malabou; Heidegger's destruction and then Derrida’s deconstruction metamorphoses the "subject" established in Western thought and transforms metaphysics. In Malabou's texts, the concept of plasticity primarily refers to a character specific to neuro-biological synaptic mapping within the organismic structure of brain-body unity and interaction. However, the concept beyond this gives the opportunity to redefine the "subject" with its plasticity and borderline character. In this respect, the plastic subject is not submissive, but has the power to reconstruct a kind of self-conformity or inappropriateness in his life world and the places where he comes into being. Ultimately, the idea of a plastic body/space also opens up space for rethinking the possibilities of resisting regimes of power or the practices of Neoliberalism's expropriation of the subject and of the subject's performativity within this practice. Thus, a new horizon appears for the political ontology of space / body free from the metaphysics of presence..

PERFORMATİFLİĞİ YENİDEN DÜŞÜNMEK: DESTRÜKTİF PLASTİKİYET

Öz

Bu çalışma, Martin Heidegger ve Jacques Derrida’nın mevcudiyet metafiziği eleştirilerini kendi düşünce seyri için hareket noktası olarak belirleyen Catherine Malabou’nun plastikiyet kavramını odağına almaktadır. Malabou’ya göre; Heidegger’in destrüksiyonu sonrasında Derrida’nın dekonstrüksiyonu Batı düşüncesinde yerleşik “özne”yi metamorfoza, metafiziği ise transformasyona uğratır. Plastikiyet kavramı Malabou’nun metinlerinde öncelikli olarak beyin-beden birliğinin ve etkileşiminin organizmik yapısı içerisinde nöro-biyolojik snaptik haritalamaya özgü bir karaktere referans verir. Ancak kavram bunun ötesinde “özne” yi plastikiyete has esneklik ve sınır karakteri ile yeniden tanımlama fırsatı verir. Bu hususta plastik özne boyun eğen değil, kendi yaşam dünyası içinde bir tür kendine uygunluk ya da uygunsuzluk durumlarını ve varoluşa geldiği mekanları tekrar tekrar yeniden kurma gücüne sahip olur. Sonuçta plastik bir beden/mekan düşüncesi, iktidar rejimlerinin ya da Neoliberalizmin özneyi mülksüzleştirme pratiklerinin ve öznenin bu pratik içerisindeki performatifliğinin direnme imkanlarının yeniden düşünümüne de alan açar. Böylece mekanın/bedenin mevcudiyet metafiziğinden azade politik ontolojisi için yeni bir ufuk belirir.
