HANNAH ARENDT’S CONCEPTION OF NATALITY AND A NEW MOVEMENT AREA FOR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

Year 2018, Volume: 13 Issue: 26, 199 - 215, 29.12.2018

Abstract

In this article, firstly, I’ll try to show that the political philosophy of
Hannah Arendt is shaped around a critique which abrades the basic categories
of Heidegger’s fundamental ontology which based on finitude. Secondly, by
focusing on the concepts of the natality, beginning and plurality, I’ll endeavor
to reveal the outlines of her political philosophy. As a conclusion, I’ll mention
the place of these concepts in the biopolitical theory of Roberto Esposito. From
this point of view my main argument is that reading the political philosophy of
Hannah Arendt as a critique of Heidegger is insufficient. If we seek out the
foundational influence of Arendt’s philosophy, we need to focus on the
contributions she made to current biopolitical theory rather than
Heideggerrian context.

HANNAH ARENDT’İN DOĞARLIK KAVRAYIŞI VE SİYASET FELSEFESİ İÇİN YENİ BİR HAREKET ALANI

Year 2018, Volume: 13 Issue: 26, 199 - 215, 29.12.2018

Abstract

Bu
makalede ilk olarak Hannah Arendt’in siyaset felsefesinin, Heidegger’in sonluluğu
esas alan fundamental ontolojisinin temel kategorilerini aşındırmaya yönelik
bir eleştiri etrafında şekillendiğini ortaya koymaya çalışacağım. İkinci adımda
Arendt’in doğarlık, başlangıç ve çoğulluk kavramlarını odağa alarak siyaset
felsefesinin ana hatlarını çıkarmayı deneyeceğim. Sonuç kısmında bu kavramların,
Roberto Esposito’nun biyopolitik kuramındaki yerine değineceğim. Buradan
hareketle ortaya koyacağım temel iddia Hannah Arendt’in, siyaset felsefesinin
sadece bir Heidegger eleştirisi olarak okunmasının yetersiz olduğudur. Arendt’in
felsefesinin asıl etkisi, Heideggerci bağlamdan ziyade bugünün biyopolitik kuramının
olgunlaşmasına sunduğu katkılarda aranmalıdır.
