COLOR PHENOMENON IN GOETHE

Abstract

What is wanted to be accomplished with this article is to lay out the color teaching of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with its basic dynamics and bring forward the sides that are suitable for approaching from a phenomenological perspective to colors. With this work, we will examine the appearance forms and the conditions of appearing of the color phenomenon in Goethe, Goethe's color spectrum along with physiological, physical and chemical colors, the aesthetic and ethical roles it gives to colors, the point of view of pathological colors and color blindness, and the way it deals with cathoptric, periodic, dioptric and epoptic lights. We will identify the color of shadow and light from Goethe's point of view through Goethe's criticism of Newton and will include the views of Goethe about colorful and colorless paintings in chromatic works. We will continue our work on prismatic color combination which we examine pigment mixtures and color stratification with transparency - opacity and refraction of light and ultimately we will end our work by describing the historical course of color theory in interaction with other sciences.

GOETHE’DE RENK FENOMENİ

Abstract

Bu makaleyle yapılmak istenen, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’nin renk öğretisini temel dinamikleriyle serimlemek ve kuramın, renklere fenomenolojik bir bakış açısıyla yaklaşmaya elverişli yanlarını ön plâna çıkarmaktır. Bu çalışmayla Goethe’de renk fenomeninin görünüş biçimleri ve görünüşe gelme koşullarını irdeleyecek, fizyolojik, fiziksel ve kimyasal renkler ile birlikte Goethe’nin renk spektrumunu, renklere biçtiği estetik ve etik rolleri, patolojik renklere ve renk körlüğüne bakış açısını, katoptrik, periyoptrik, diyoptrik ve epoptik ışıkları ele alma biçimini değerlendireceğiz. Goethe’nin Newton’a yönelttiği eleştiriler üzerinden gölgenin ve ışığın rengini Goethe açısından teşhis edecek, Goethe’nin kromatik çalışmalarında yer eden renkli, renksiz resimler ve gölgeler hakkındaki görüşlerine yer vereceğiz. Prizmatik renk bileşimleri üzerinden pigment karışımlarını ve renkler arası katmanlaşmayı irdeleyeceğimiz çalışmamıza, saydamlık – matlık ve ışığın kırılımı konularıyla devam edecek ve nihayetinde renk kuramının diğer bilimlerle etkileşim içindeki tarihsel seyrini betimleyerek çalışmamızı sonlandıracağız.
