Abstract
Bir kentin nüfusu ile onun ulusal kent sistemindeki nüfus büyüklüğünün sıralaması arasında gerçek hayattagözlemlenen güçlü ilişki, uzun yıllar ilgi çeken bir konu olmuştur. Özellikle kent çalışmalarında bu olgu, ulusalkentsel hiyerarşilerin düzenli gelişip gelişmediğinin araştırılmasında başvurulabilen bir ilişki niteliğindedir. Buçalışmada 1985, 1990 ve 2000 yıllarına ait Türkiye’deki kent nüfusları kullanılarak, kent sistemimizdeki nüfusdağılımının gelişimi ekonometrik bir yöntemle incelenmektedir. Sonuçlar, 1985’ten sonra Türkiye’deki kentselnüfus dağılımının ve dolayısıyla da kentsel sistem yapısının giderek dengesizleştiği ve Zipf yasasından uzaklaşıldığınıgöstermektedir. Bunda, 1985 sonrası uygulanan liberal ekonomik politikaların ve dünya ekonomisiyle giderekartan eklemlemenin bir rolünün olduğu tahmin edilmektedir.
