Abstract
İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski bir geçmişe sahip olan diplomasi, farklı perspektiflerden değerlendirildiğinde birçok formda tanımlanan kavramdır. Genel olarak diplomasi, bir devletin diğer devletler ve uluslararası kurumlar nezdinde çıkarlarını korumak, anlaşmazlıkları çözmek ve anlaşmalar yapmak amacıyla yürüttüğü temsil ve müzakere faaliyetleri olarak ifade edilir. Bu süreç, devletlerin görüş ve önerilerinin profesyonel diplomatlar aracılığıyla diğer devletlerin karar mercilerine iletilmesini ve bu sayede uluslararası ilişkilerin yapıcı yöntemlerle yürütülmesini de kapsar. Diplomasi, köken itibarıyla Fransızca “diplomatie” sözcüğünden Türkçeye geçmiş ve dünya siyasetinde barışçıl ilişkilerin temel taşlarından biri olarak kabul edilir.
Abstract
Diplomacy, which has a history as old as the history of humanity, is a concept that is defined in many forms when evaluated from different perspectives. In general, diplomacy is defined as the representation and negotiation activities of a state before other states and international organizations in order to protect its interests, resolve disputes and conclude agreements. This process also includes conveying the views and proposals of states to the decision-makers of other states through professional diplomats and thus conducting international relations through constructive methods. Diplomacy, originally translated into Turkish from the French word “diplomatie”, is considered one of the cornerstones of peaceful relations in world politics.
