Design of Double Sided Direct Current Linear Motor

Abstract

Linear electrical motors are electrical machines which directly convert electrical energy into linear motion without requiring any extra components. So far, rotating DC or AC motors with belt and gear systems have been employed in many position systems. On other hand, the main reasons, why DC linear motors have not been widespread are their stroke limitations and low force to current ratios. In this study, a double-sided direct current linear motor which has not any stroke limitation has been designed. The experimentally obtained results of the DC linear motor which was designed in laboratory conditions were compared with results of the analytical methods
