The Analysis of Grower Decisions with the Analytic Hierarchy Process Method (The Case of Tomato Growers in Tokat Province)

Abstract

This study aimed at developing a decision support system for the farms growing tomato in the Central County of Tokat Province. The research used data of original quality obtained through a survey. The survey was applied to 84 farms determined by the stratified sampling method among the farms growing tomato in the Central County of Tokat Province. The Analytic Hierarchy Process method was employed in data analysis. To do this, the Expert Choice software was used. The determination of an appropriate growing system for tomato growers was chosen as the problem in the study and a hierarchical structure was formed for the solution. Alternatives were stake-tomato and determinate tomato and the criteria were price, yield, marketing, cost and sustainability. According to the research findings, it was concluded that the appropriate growing system for the tomato growers in Tokat Province was staketomato with a result of 61 %. While stake-tomato was found significant with respect to price, yield and marketing criteria, it was found to be less significant regarding cost and sustainability. It was determined that growers obtained high yield and made more profit, and the marketing possibilities were easier with stake-tomato. It was concluded that stake tomato should be supported with respect to cost and sustainability. Therefore, growers should be oriented towards stake-tomato growing and they should be supplied with subsidy and support. In order to transfer resources to future generations in the most effective way, studies are needed to inform the growers on effective input use

Analitik Hiyerarşi Yaklaşımı ile Üretici Kararlarının Analizi (Tokat ili Domates Üreticileri Örneği)

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Tokat ili Merkez ilçede domates üretimi yapan işletmeler için karar destek sistemi geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada anket çalışması yoluyla sağlanan orjinal nitelikli verilerden yararlanılmıştır. Tokat ili Merkez ilçede domates üretimi yapan işletmelerden tabakalı örnekleme yöntemine göre belirlenen 84 işletme ile anket çalışılması yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Analitik Hiyerarşi Süreci yöntemi kullanılmış bunun içinde Expert Choice programından yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmada domates üreticileri için uygun üretim sisteminin belirlenmesi problem olarak seçilmiş ve problemin çözümü için hiyerarşik yapı oluşturulmuştur. Alternatifler sırık domates ve yer domatesi, kriterler ise fiyat, verim, pazarlama, maliyet ve sürdürülebilirlik olarak ele alınmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre Tokat ili domates üreticileri için, uygun üretim sisteminin %61’ lik değerle sırık domates olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Fiyat, verim ve pazarlama kriterleri açısından daha önemli olarak belirlenen sırık domates, maliyet ve sürdürülebilirlik kriterleri açısından ise daha az öneme sahip olarak belirlenmiştir. Üreticilerin sırık domates üretiminde yüksek verime ulaştığı, daha çok kar elde ettiği ve pazarlama imkanlarının daha kolay olduğu belirlenmiştir. Maliyet ve sürdürülebilirlik yönünden ise desteklenmesi gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu nedenle, üreticiler sırık domates üretimine yönlendirilmeli, üreticiye teşvik ve destekler sağlanmalıdır. Kaynakların gelecek nesillere en etkin şekilde aktarılması için ise, bilinçli girdi kullanımı konusunda üreticilerin bilgilendirilmesine yönelik çalışmalara ağırlık verilmelidir.
