EFFECTS OF CHANGING RURAL ROUTINE ACTIVITIES ON CRIME OF THEFT
Abstract
Nowadays, crime is regarded largely as a
sociological phenomenon and researches indicate that socio-ecological and
environmental differences have a significant impact on crime. However, ignoring
rural and completely focusing on urban crime and criminality cause an
imperfection on perspective of socio-ecological and environmental crime
theories. On the other hand, last rural crime researches reveal the existence
of noteworthy rural crime fact and conspicuous differences between rural and
urban crimes. In this research, effects of changing rural routine activities on
crime of theft were analyzed on macro level by using basic assumptions of Routine
Activity Theory. Thus, we try to find solutions to prevent thefts in rural. As
a result of research done in this direction, it was found that by creating new
crime opportunities, changing rural routine activities affect crime of theft in
rural both quantitative and qualitative way.
