RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE MUSCLE DAMAGE AND DELAY ONSET MUSCLE SORENESS AFTER STRENGTH TRAINING

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the relationship between the muscle damage and muscle soreness after strength training. 11 sedantery males (age: 28,636±2,730 years, height: 179,090±7,660 cm, weight: 78,272±5,386 kg, BMI: 24,442±1,671 kg/m2) participated in this study. A training program which was based on the subjects’ maximal strength was prepared using pyramidal method with the equipments for the inferior and posterior extremities. Blood samples were taken before the training program, immediately after, 6, 24, 48 and 72 hours after the treaning. CK levels were evaluated from the blood samples taken. Subjects’ soreness values of the muscles trained were determined using the Likert scale. It was found out that CK started to increase immediately after the training and reached its highest level 24 hours after the training, started to decrease after 48 hours and approached the level of immediately after training. This indicated that a muscle soreness occurs in sedanteries after strength training. Just like CK levels, soreness levels also increased immediately after the training and reached its highest level 24 hours after the training, started to decrease after 48 hours and after 72 hours decreased significantly. As a result, it was found out that maximal strength training caused significant muscle damage. Muscle soreness increased significantly after strenght training and this increase was related to muscle damage. Muscle damage is an important factor to explain the soreness occurs after strength training.

KUVVET ANTRENMANI SONRASI OLUŞAN KAS AĞRISININ KAS HASARIYLA İLİŞKİSİ

Kuvvet antrenmanı
sonrası oluşan kas ağrısının kas hasarıyla ilişkisinin araştırılması amacıyla
yapılan çalışmaya (yaş ortalaması 28,636±2,730 yıl, boy ortalaması
179,090±7,660 cm, ağırlık ortalamaları 78,272±5,386 kg, vücut kitle indeksleri
24,442±1,671 kg/m2) 11 sedanter erkek katılmıştır. Deneklerin maksimal
kuvvetleri baz alınarak alt ve üst ekstremitelere yönelik aletlerle piramidal
metoda göre antrenman programı hazırlanmıştır. Antrenman programı uygulanmadan
önce, uygulandıktan hemen sonra, 6 saat sonra, 24 saat sonra, 48 ve 72 saat
sonra kan örnekleri alınarak kreatin kinaz (CK) değerleri tespit edilmiştir.
Deneklerin antrene edilen kaslarına ilişkin ağrı değerleri Likert ağrı skalası
ile tespit edilmiştir. Plazmada CK antrenmandan sonra artmaya başlayarak antrenmandan
24 saat sonra pik yaptığı 48. saatte düşmeye başladığı ve 72. saatte
antrenmandan hemen sonraki seviyeye yaklaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu da kuvvet
antrenmanından sonra sedanterlerde bir kas hasarının oluştuğunu göstermektedir.
Ağrı değerlerinin CK değerlerine benzer olarak antrenmandan sonra yükselmeye başladığı,
24. saatte pik yaptığı, 48. saatte düşmeye başladığı ve 72. saatte oldukça düştüğü
tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak maksimal kuvvet antrenmanının önemli düzeyde
kas hasarı meydana getirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Kuvvet antrenmanı sonrası kas ağrılarında
anlamlı ölçüde artış olduğu ve bu artışın kas hasarı ile ilişkili olduğu tespit
edilmiştir. Kas hasarı kuvvet antrenmanlarından sonra oluşan ağrıyı açıklamada
önemli bir faktördür.
