ZİHİNSEL ENGELLİ ÇOCUKLARIN FİZİKSEL AKTİVİTEYE KATILIM DURUMLARININ İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu araştırma,
ailelerinden alınan bilgiler doğrultusunda zihinsel engelli çocukların fiziksel
aktivite düzeylerini yaş ve cinsiyet özelliklerine göre incelemek amacıyla
yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya 32 kız, 45 erkek olmak üzere toplam 77 zihinsel
engelli çocuk ailesi katılmıştır. Çalışmada "Çocuklar için Fiziksel
Aktivite Formu" ve demografik özellikleri belirlemeye yönelik araştırmacı
tarafından geliştirilen bir anket formu uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına
göre, gerek çocukların gerekse ailelerin fiziksel aktiviteye katılım
düzeylerinin düşük, ailelerin çocuklarının fiziksel aktiviteye katılım tutum
puanlarının yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur (p<.05). Kız çocuklarının spor
kulüplerine katılım oranlarının ve ailelerinin tutum puanlarının erkek
çocukları ile karşılaştırıldığında istatistiksel olarak daha yüksek olduğu
gözlenmiştir. Her iki cinsiyet grubunda da yaş açısından fiziksel aktivite
durumlarında istatistiksel olarak önemli bir farklılık bulunmamıştır
(p>.05). Çocukların fiziksel aktivite olanaklarının artırılması ile ilgili
olarak okullara, ailelere ve diğer kurumlara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

INVESTIGATION OF PARTICIPATING STATUS CHILDREN WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABLED TO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Abstract

The aim of this study
was to investigate physical activity level of children with intellectual
disabilities with regard to age and gender characteristics via data collecting
by interviewing their parents. Participants were parents of 32 girls and 45
boys with intellectual disabilities. In this study parents completed "The
NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development Parent Interview Of Child
Physical Activity" and a questioannaire about demographics information developed
by researchers. According to the results of this study, physical activity
levels of both children and parents were low, parents' attitude scores toward
their children's physical activity was high (p<.05). Compared to
participating percentage of girls to sport clubs were higher than boys. Also,
girls' parents got higher attitude scores than boys' parents. Independent t
tests revealed that there was no significant difference in terms of age in both
gender groups (p<.05)Reseachers suggested to parents, schools and other
foundations relating to increasing the physical activity level of children with
intellectual disabilities.
