The aim of the Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is to publish original research that deeply examines and interprets the intersection points of different scientific fields due to the interdisciplinary nature of sports sciences. This includes areas such as Teaching in Physical Education and Sports, Movement and Training Sciences, Health Sciences in Sports, Psycho-Social Areas in Sports, Sports Management, and Recreation. The journal shares these findings with its target audience through comprehensive review studies.

Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is a scientific and peer-reviewed journal that has been published since 1996, appearing four times a year. The primary language of the journal is Turkish, but it also includes articles written in English by foreign authors. The journal accepts both quantitative and qualitative research related to all areas of sports sciences, comprehensive review studies that evaluate the latest literature, model proposals, and other original writings. Current studies utilizing advanced research methods and techniques are given priority.

Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (GaziJPESS) is a refereed and scientific journal published four times a year (January, April, July, October) by Gazi University Faculty of Sports Sciences. Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences includes publications in the fields of physical education and sports (Physical Education and Sports Education, Movement and Training Sciences, Sports Health Sciences, Psycho-Social Areas in Sports, Sports Management Sciences and Recreation).

Submitted articles must not have been published anywhere before. In addition, a plagiarism program must be used in article submissions and the similarity rate must not exceed 15%. Relevant reports must be uploaded to the system in article submissions.

In articles presented at any symposium or congress, the name, place and date of the congress must be stated. In studies supported by a research institution or fund, the name of the supporting institution and project number must be given.

Articles subjected to preliminary evaluation by the editors are sent to at least two referees to be examined in terms of content and format. Articles requested to be corrected by the referees are sent back to the author for the necessary changes. It is the author's responsibility to deliver the corrected text to the journal within the specified period. The corrected text is reviewed again by the referees who requested the changes if necessary.

In texts, in-text references and in creating bibliography, tables and figures, the APA 6 writing principles published by the American Psychological Association should be taken as basis.

The publication rights after acceptance and all copyrights after publication of articles sent to the journal belong to Gazi Physical Education and Sports Sciences Journal.

In order for articles sent to the journal to be reviewed, the following conditions must be met:

* The authors are responsible for the thoughts expressed in the articles.

* Articles published in GaziJPESS can only be quoted by citing the source. The person or organization making the quote and publishing the article are legally responsible for any distortions that may occur in the content of the article.

* Articles sent to GaziJPESS are not returned whether they are published or not.

* The Editorial Board may change any words it deems necessary in the article.
* Articles that do not comply with the rules will not be published.

* No fee is paid for articles published in GaziJPESS.

* It is mandatory for the researcher to keep the data of each published research for 5 years. In accordance with our publication policy, the data and analysis programs of some articles may be requested from the authors from time to time.

Writing Format

* The article should be written with the Microsoft Word software program in Calibri font, leaving 1.5 cm margins and not exceeding 20 pages excluding the references.

* Texts should be prepared according to the Writing Template in the forms section.

* The spelling guide of the Turkish Language Association should be taken as an example in the articles, and Turkish words should be used instead of foreign words as much as possible.

* Articles should include the title, abstract (Turkish and English), keywords, main text, author notes (if necessary), correspondence address, sources and appendices (if necessary) sections.

I. Article metadata:

The article title, consisting of a maximum of 10-12 words, should include the author(s) name, surname, institution information, ORCID numbers, responsible author information (title and e-mail address) and Ethics information.

II. Abstract and keywords:
The Turkish and English summaries of the research should cover the purpose of the research, the method of the research, the results of the research and the main recommendations made. Summaries should be single paragraph and justified, not exceeding 250 words in both languages ​​under the titles ‘Summary’ and ‘Abstract’. Summaries should include the purpose, sample, data collection tools, procedure, data analysis, brief findings and conclusion sentence. Key words (between 3 and 6) should be given under the Turkish abstract under the title ‘Keywords’ and under the English abstract under the title ‘Keywords’.

III. Main text:
In research articles, the text should consist of the introduction, method, findings, discussion and conclusion sections, respectively. In compilation type articles, this order may not be followed depending on the content of the article. The main text should start with the subheading “Introduction”. The Method, Findings, Discussion and Conclusion sections do not start on a new page; after one section ends, the other follows on the same page.

Introduction: In this section, the problem and the theoretical or conceptual framework of the research should be presented with their justifications. The hypotheses to be tested and their basis should be specified or the purpose of the research should be stated. While doing this, instead of quoting paragraphs from other sources, the researcher should create the logic of the text with his/her own words, express opinions through indirect quotations, and provide sources that support, oppose or remain neutral to an opinion. Of course, direct quotations can also be made when necessary. A logical order should be followed, from general to specific, from past to present or something else. Definitions, abbreviations, assumptions and limitations, if any, should be presented in this section with their justifications. This section of the research can be given as a whole or, if necessary, under subheadings.

Method: The method to be followed in the research should be expressed in a clear and understandable language that will allow for the repetition of the research. This information should include the type of research, design, universe and sample, data collection tools, data collection format and how the data will be analyzed. If the justifications for the method to be followed are not discussed in the problem section, they should definitely be discussed here. Information should be provided on the characteristics, development, validity and reliability of data collection tools. The statistical techniques used in the analysis of data, the purpose of use and the levels of significance used should be specified. The subheadings of this section can be determined by the author according to the type of research. In addition, information on Ethics Committee/Commission approvals/permissions (ethics committee name, date and number) must be provided in this section.

Findings: It should include the statistical analyses used to test the hypotheses of the research, the mean and standard deviation values ​​of each variable. Tables and figures should be given in the text. The information given in the tables should not be repeated verbatim in writing; special situations that attract attention in the table should be indicated. The table text and table number should be given above the table and aligned to the left, and the table title should be written right next to the table number. In the table title, only the first letter of the first word should be capitalized, other words should start with lower case letters and continue. Tables should be prepared in Word, there should be no vertical lines in the tables and APA 6 rules should be followed regarding where the horizontal lines should be. The figure number and figure title should be placed below the figure. Expenses related to figures and photographs requiring special printing are covered by the author.

Discussion: It should include the explanation and discussion of the research findings in light of the literature.

Conclusion and recommendations: A result that is appropriate for the purpose of the research and is a response to it should be presented. The result must be based on the findings and can be explained with them. Application and research recommendations should be included in the light of the findings of this research and the results reached.

Author's note: If the research is a thesis study or a paper presented at a symposium/congress, the necessary information should be included in this section. In addition, the names of the institution(s) supporting the research or the people who contributed to the research and, if desired, expressions of thanks can be stated in this section.

Financial Sources: It must be stated in this section whether any financial support was received from financial institutions and/or organizations during the preparation and writing of the article.

Conflict of Interest: There is no conflict of interest between the authors regarding the publication of this article.
Author Contributions: Information regarding the contributions of the authors mentioned in the article to the study (research idea/scope, design; data collection, data analysis, source review, article writing, critical review, etc.) should be provided in this section. This information can be edited by the authors depending on the type and design of the research.

References: It should start on a new page. All sources cited in the text should be included in the ‘References’ list. APA 6 writing principles should be used as a basis for citing sources.

Gazi JPESS EndNote plugin (patch) has been added to the Forms and Files section.
It is recommended that the reference list be prepared using the EndNote plugin in studies to be sent to our journal.

Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (Gazi JPESS) is a non-profit journal that aims to convey scientific developments in all areas of educational sciences to readers and interested parties since 1996. Gazi JPESS's publication ethics policy is based on the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive and the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in open access.

GaziJPESS defines the following actions as actions contrary to research and publication ethics;

a) Plagiarism: Presenting others' original ideas, methods, data or works as one's own work, partially or completely, without citing them in accordance with scientific rules,
b) Forgery: Using data that does not actually exist or has been falsified in scientific research,
c) Distortion: Falsifying research records or obtained data, presenting devices or materials that are not used in the research as if they were used, falsifying or shaping research results in line with the interests of people and organizations receiving support,
ç) Re-publication: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
d) Slicing: Splitting the results of a research into pieces in a way that will disrupt the integrity of the research and publishing them more than once,
e) Unfair authorship: Including people who do not actively contribute to the authors or excluding people who do, changing the order of authors in an unjustified and inappropriate manner, removing the names of those who actively contribute to the work in subsequent editions, using one's influence to have one's name included among the authors despite not having actively contributed,

(2) Other types of ethical violations are as follows:
a) The results of research conducted with support not indicating the supporting persons, institutions or organizations and their contributions in publications,
b) Using theses or studies that have not yet been presented or defended and accepted as sources without the permission of the owner,
c) Not complying with ethical rules in research conducted on humans and animals, not respecting patient rights in publications,
ç) Acting contrary to the relevant legislative provisions in biomedical research and other clinical research on humans,
d) Sharing information in a work that the person was assigned to review with others before publication without the explicit permission of the owner,
e) Using resources, places, facilities and devices provided or allocated for scientific research for purposes other than intended,
f) Making baseless, unfounded and intentional allegations of ethical violations,
g) Publishing data obtained in surveys and attitude research conducted within the scope of a scientific study without obtaining the explicit consent of the participants or, if the research is to be conducted in an institution, without obtaining the permission of the institution,
h) Harming animal health and ecological balance in research and experiments,
ı) Not obtaining written permissions from authorized units before starting the studies in research and experiments,
i) conducting studies contrary to the provisions of the legislation or international agreements to which Turkey is a party regarding relevant research and experiments,
j) Failing to comply with the obligation of researchers and authorities to inform and warn the relevant parties about possible harmful practices related to scientific research,
k) Not using data and information obtained from other persons and institutions in scientific studies to the extent and in the manner permitted, not respecting the confidentiality of this information and not ensuring its protection,
l) Making false or misleading statements regarding scientific research and publications in academic appointments and promotions.

Cases That Cannot Be Considered Contrary to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics

Using anonymous information, basic information of scientific fields, propositions such as mathematical theorems and proofs in studies, provided that the original style and expression of another person is not used verbatim, cannot be considered as an ethical violation.

Editors' Responsibilities
According to Gazi JPESS publication and ethics principles, the responsibilities of editors are as follows;

• Editors evaluate incoming articles in terms of scientific content without considering the ethnic origin, gender, sexual preference, nationality, religious belief or political philosophy of their authors.

• They provide a fair double-blind peer review process for the publication of submitted articles.

• They conduct the entire process confidentially for the privacy of both authors and referees.

• The editor is responsible for taking precautions regarding intellectual property rights, unethical scientific behavior, plagiarism and citation scams during the article and journal publication process.

• Editors are responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication. They publish corrections when necessary through erratum (correction) pages.

• They keep records of each article and correspondence related to the journal electronically or in print.

• The editor should not allow any conflict of interest or competition between authors, editors and referees.

Responsibilities of Reviewers
According to Gazi JPESS publication and ethical principles, the responsibilities of reviewers are as follows;

• When a reviewer thinks that the content of a submitted manuscript is incompatible with his/her scientific field or knowledge or when he/she cannot make a rapid evaluation, he/she must inform the Editor and ask for his/her forgiveness from the evaluation process.

• Reviewers must respect the confidentiality of the review process. They must not disclose information about the details of the manuscript before or after the process.

• Reviewers must evaluate the incoming manuscripts in terms of scientific content, regardless of the ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious belief or political philosophy of the authors.

• They must make their evaluations objective and constructive, far from being hostile or provocative, and avoiding making intimidating or condescending personal comments.

• They cannot use the information they obtain during the evaluation process for their own or others' or other institutions' advantage or to disadvantage or undermine the reputation of others.

• Reviewers must indicate related published publications that have not been cited by the author. They are obliged to keep all information regarding the submitted article confidential and to notify the Editor when they become aware of any copyright infringement or plagiarism committed by the author.

Authors' Responsibilities
According to Gazi JPESS publication and ethical principles, the responsibilities of authors are as follows;

Authors must guarantee the originality of the articles they submit.

Authors must not send an article they have published elsewhere or sent for publication to Gazi Physical Education and Sports Journal.

Names of persons who have not contributed to the article should not be written as authors, and it should not be suggested to change the order of authors, remove authors or add authors to an article submitted for publication.

The name, place and date of the congress should be stated in articles presented at any symposium or congress.

In studies supported by a research institution or fund, the name of the supporting institution and the project number should be given.

Copyrighted material such as tables, figures or other contributing citations in our journal are published only with valid permission and copyright approval, and this responsibility belongs to the authors. Authors; should appropriately cite other authors, contributors or sources and indicate relevant sources.

• If the author detects a significant scientific error or inappropriateness in his/her published article, he/she has the obligation to contact the Editor as soon as possible to withdraw the article or correct the error.

• Authors are obliged to submit the raw or processed data used in the study to the editor upon request.

• The author is responsible for completing the process in accordance with all ethical rules specified in the journal.

Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (Gazi JPESS) does not charge article publishing fees (APC) or article evaluation fees for the studies that authors submit to the journal. All articles in Gazi JPESS are published as open access. Authors and readers do not pay any fees such as subscriptions etc. to read and access the articles. All expenses of Gazi JPESS are covered by Gazi University Faculty of Sports Sciences.

Gazi Journal of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is a scientific and peer-reviewed journal published quarterly.
