BOOK REVIEW: Destined for War: Can America and China Escape Thucydides' Trap

Year 2020, Volume: 22 Issue: 2, 259 - 263, 28.12.2020

Abstract

This review seeks to analyse Graham Allison's book "DESTINED FOR WAR: CAN AMERICA AND CHINA ESCAPE THUCYDIDES’ TRAP". Allison who is the professor of Harvard Kennedy School of Government comprehensively and asistant secretary of defense of many presidents comprehensively explores China’s challenge to the US dominance in world politics. Though many scholars of International Relations discipline have taken a close interest in different facets of the US-China case, the key characteristic which distinguishes Allison’s book from the others is that he analyses US-China competition in the context of Thucydides’ famous thesis. Allison divides his book into four main chapters which are supported by secondary parts as well.
