Geriatric Problems in Elderly Dialysis Patients

Abstract

The incidence of
geriatric syndromes increase as the elderly population grows in dialysis
patients. Growing coexistence of complications of hemodialysis and geriatric
syndromes enhances the cooperation between geriatricians and nephrologists in
terms of patient management. 
Nephrologists should discuss geriatric concepts such as dementia,
fragility and palliative care in order to improve life expectancy, functional
status and treatment responsibilities.

Yaşlı Diyaliz Hastalarında Geriatrik Sorunlar

Abstract

Diyaliz hastalarında
yaşlı popülasyon arttıkça geriatrik sendrom görülme sıklığı artmaktadır.
Hemodiyaliz ve geriatrik sendromların komplikasyonlarının birlikteliğinin
artması hasta yönetimi açısından geriatrist ve nefrolog işbirliğini
artırmaktadır. Nefrologlar yaşam süresinin arttırılması, fonksiyonel durum ve
tedavi sorumluluğu kararında demans, kırılganlık ve palyatif bakım gibi
geriatrik kavramları da tartışmalıdırlar. Bu derlemede yaşlı hemodiyaliz
hastalarında geriatrik sorunları tartışmak hedeflenmiştir
