The Academic Visibility of Fathers of Children with Disabilities: A Bibliometric Analysis Using VOSviewer

Year 2025, Volume: 20 Issue: 2, 754 - 783, 27.12.2025

Abstract

This study examines academic publications on fathers of children with disabilities through a bibliometric framework, identifying research trends, key authors, journals, institutions, countries, and scientific collaborations. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 253 publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) using VOSviewer software, applying performance analysis and science mapping techniques. Findings indicate that over half of the publications are concentrated in rehabilitation and special education, suggesting that fathers are primarily studied in relation to their children’s care needs and engagement with educational services. Universities and researchers from the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia exhibit strong academic influence, ranking highest in terms of publication output and link strength. The presence of 158 different journals highlights the multidisciplinary nature of this research area. However, the number of leading researchers remains limited, and strong collaborative networks among authors have not yet developed. In conclusion, applying a quantitative approach to a complex topic such as fatherhood can enhance academic interest, foster collaborations, and contribute to the advancement of theoretical and methodological frameworks in the field.

Engelli Çocuk Sahibi Babaların Akademik Görünürlüğü: VOSviewer ile Bibliyometrik Analiz

Year 2025, Volume: 20 Issue: 2, 754 - 783, 27.12.2025
